ZannWalker.com is Live!

It’s a big day! I finally settled on a host site for my online gallery. I’m using zenfolio.com, a fantastic online photo gallery application that will allow me to present my best work, offer a password-protected gallery to clients, and sell my work (hopefully!!).

And…they allow you to link to your portfolio using your own domain name.

So….drum roll, please….introducing the official unveiling of ZannWalker.com!

I’m still adding photos to the galleries so the site has a limited number of photographs. But this is where I’ll display the images that I’m most proud of, and also where I’ll post the photos from various shoots that I do for clients.

I’ll still be using Flickr for my general photography sharing.  Nice to have so many choices.

Please check out ZannWalker.com and feel free to offer suggestions and ideas.

I appreciate your support!

The Arabian Library in Copper

Tonight’s post is another image of the Arabian Library in Scottsdale, Arizona.  Its exterior walls are a beautiful copper color which positively glows in the sun, especially against the bright blue of the desert sky:

Arabian Library in Copper

This is a single exposure shot handheld at 85mm, ISO 200, F/6.3, 1/640s. I processed it in PaintShop Photo Pro X3, using Topaz Adjust to bring out some of the details that were lost in the harsh sunlight.

I spent a few hours (and a few bucks) today establishing my new online domain, ZannWalker.com. Over time, I plan to get a website set up to display my best photography, and then eventually start some sort of business from what is now a very expensive hobby. But for now, I just wanted to make sure that I own the domain. It may never amount to anything, but one has to start somewhere.

2011 Calendars Now Available

I’ve just published a 2011 Calendar with thirteen of my favorite nature photographs from this past year (one on the cover, one for each month).  The calendar is available in two sizes:

The larger version is 13.5″ x 19″ with coil binding at the top of the pages so the picture and the calendar are all on the same page.  Price – $29.99.

The smaller version is 11″ x 17″ (open) with coil binding in the middle, so the picture is on the top page and the calendar is on the bottom page (make sense?).  Price – $19.99.

If you order five or more, there is a volume discount of 20%, so stock up for Christmas!

I’m a Stock Photographer!

Out of the eight photographs that I submitted to Dreamstime.com, three were accepted for their stock inventory.  Two were sent back for additional information (but not because of technical issues).  I’ll add more information and resubmit those.  And the other three were legitimate rejections because of image quality.

Now that I have an idea of what they’re looking for, I’ll start going through my photo inventory and submit a few more to see how it goes.  I would really like to get a little income stream rolling in if possible, even though my photography is something that I enjoy enough to do it for free.  I’m also going to start submitting to other stock sites as well.  I could get higher prices if I made the shots exclusive to one website, but since I’m just starting out I think it’s best to try and broaden my exposure.

Here’s are links to the ones that made the cut:
